Dominik Scherrer
As an
extremely colourful and original composer, Dominik is now emerging
as one of the most talented film composers of his generation. His
recent scores include the supernatural love story, Life Line,
directed by Jamie Payne for the BBC, and the eerily haunting score
for the new
reworking
of Dracula for Granada/BBC, which starred
David Suchet and Marc Warren. Recently Dominik produced the score
for the hugely successful, Primeval (series
1 & 2). He is also currently scoring Agatha Christie's
Marple (series 4).
In 2006
he wrote an eclectic score to the complex, dark and funny feature
film, Scenes Of A Sexual Nature starring Ewan McGregor,
Hugh Bonneville, Gina McKee and Sophie Okonedo for Tin Pan Films.
He wrote a wonderfully original score to the dark and twisted feature
The Truth which received rave reviews, and most recently
completed the score to the feature Riprendimi
(US title - "Good Bye Heartache"),
which was accepted to premier in competition at the Sundance Film
Festival. Other features include the award winning The Nine
Lives of Tomas Katz (Strawberry Vale/UA) for which Dominik
received the Best Music Award
at Spain's Estapona Film Festival;
the Italian comedy In Principio Erano Le Mutande (premiered
at the Berlin Film Festival); Alice Through The Looking Glass
(Projector/Channel 4), starring Kate Beckinsale and Ian Holm; and
Appetite (Loud Mouse/J&M), starring Trevor Eve
and Ute Lemper. Dominik also wrote the end title song for this film,
sung by Ute Lemper, which featured in the album ‘The Best of Ute
Lemper’ (the album reached No. 2 in the UK classical charts).
Dominik
received great acclaim following the phenomenal success of his score
to Agatha Christie’s televised and re-vamped Miss Marple (ITV/WGBH),
starring many of the most established actors working today. His
music is full of life, illustrated by his amazing and colourful
orchestrations and as a result he was awarded a Gold Medal for Best
Original Music at The New York
International TV Festival 2006 and has continued to create
imaginative scores for series two and the forthcoming series three.
He followed this with a wonderful period score to Jericho,
starring Robert Lindsay as a 1950's detective and a contemporary
score to the drama If I Had You.
Earlier
TV credits include, We Can Make You Talk (Tiger Aspect
/ History Channel NY), about the treatment of terrorist suspects
in Guantanamo, and Footprints (Tigerlilly Films),
a documentary filmed in Afghanistan. Dominik also directed and scored
a contemporary biker opera Hell For Leather, which
has been shown at more than 60 film festivals. He is a member of
Taxi Val Mentek, the avant-garde pop band/video art
duo, and also composes performance music for the theatre, including
Forkbeard Fantasy's Shooting Shakespeare, which toured
extensively last year in the UK.
